As many of you know I am what you would call a thespian. This means I am someone who does and loves theatre. I would like to share with anyone and everyone who might be reading and listening to these words in their head that I am in a show currently and here are all the details about it, extensively.
So the show I am doing is called A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. It is what you would call a Greek comedy and let me tell you... It is hilarious! I am so happy to be a part of this show, it is one of the greatest theatre experiences I have had in a very long time. This is what you could call, a comedy of errors, everyone goes back and forth between personalities and identities and possessions.
The show is being featured over at Stage Door Repertory which if you have not heard of, you should. Whether you see this show or not, you have to check this theatre out, you will find their website at the end of this post. Stage Door is going into their five year of producing shows and this is the first of the season. If I have not mentioned it yet or if you have not guess yet, it is, by the way, a musical. Which may or may not hurt the cause of persuading you to come. BUT this is a great show to watch if you love theatre and it is a great show to watch if you have never seen theatre before!
I will try to summarize the story with out any spoilers so you will be both enticed and willing to come see it. The story starts out with a married couple going off to see the wife's mother and their son is left in the hands of their slaves of the house. One slave tries to keep the whole play in order and the other one does everything in their power to earn his freedom. Which includes, mischief, deceit, cunnings, cleverness, and above all else, singing and dancing. There are beautiful women playing the roles of the Courtesans and if you do not know what those are then I'll let you look it up yourself. There are slaves, citizens, eunuchs, and soldiers that have one thing in common, they are all being played by three people.... I am one of those three people!
This show is fun, exciting and really funny. I hope you are able to come and enjoy this marvelous production as it will be going on until February, see below for all other information you will need.
